Generators
What do I need a generator for?
You need a generator to restore power to critical life safety items, or to your entire home, if you happen to lose power from a storm, natural disaster, downed power lines, lack of maintenance on a panel, or other event. Having a generator installed in your home can provide you with power to run equipment in your house while others are still in the dark.
By installing a generator, these items can still be used while power is out. A generator can keep power going to the refrigerator or freezer keeping the items cold so they do not go to waste. On the average, you could lose up to $500 in perishables per occurrence!
How long could you live without these important items?

Home Safety Check
At Arrow Electric, we are concerned with the safety of you and your family. While we are at your home, we offer a FREE visual safety inspection. With this inspection, we will go through your home and notify you of any possible electrocution or fire hazards. Your safety is very important to our Dallas electricians , so we offer this for free. Since most homeowners usually do not know much about their electrical systems, we will educate you on how it works. It is our responsibility to inform you of any hazards that we find and go through how to get these items fixed and make your home safe again.

Panels
The panel is the heart of your electrical system. Just as anything, the panel should be looked at to make sure it is in proper working order. If your panel is noticeably old and needs replaced, we recommend that it is done so immediately before the possibility for problems can worsen. As panels age, the life span becomes less and less until it eventually dies. We can evaluate your panel, educate you, and let you know where your panel stands and if it needs replaced or not. If the panel needs to be replaced, we can go through the options of what steps need to be taken so you have a panel that is up to date and safe for your home.
There are two brands of Panels that have lost their UL listing that we recommend immediate replacement if you have one of these manufacturers, they are a fire hazard:
Federal Pacfic (FPE), Zinsco / Sylvania
Surge Protection
What is Surge Protection? This is a device that is hooked up to your panel that will protect all of your vital electronic devices in your home from sudden surges and spikes in your electrical lines. It is similar to the device that you can plug into your outlet for your computer or other electronics only this one will take care of your entire home. For information on the cost of surge protection ask your technician. The cost is very minor knowing that the manufacturer will provide a $25,000, $50,000, or $75,000 warranty depending on model for any electronic equipment that is lost.

What is an example of a surge that causes damage?
Surges can happen during lightning storms. If lighting strikes a power line and follows into your home with excess voltage, the power will disperse to anything that is plugged into your outlets and potentially "damage" these items. When these items are damaged, you will lose them and the item will no longer be any good. Items like plasma TV's, computers, appliances and other household electronics might be lost when this happens. These are enough reasons to have surge protection in your home so that your expensive electronics are safe. Plus if the surge protector does not do its job, there is a $25,000, $50,000, or $75,000 manufacturer warranty on your items depending on model of surge protector. If you are interested in protecting your vital electronic equipment, make sure to let your Dallas electrician know that you are interested in Surge Protection.
